There are different ways to get to Institut d’Estudis Catalans from the El Prat airport. Bellow we will find our suggested way but you can also Click here for general information about transportation from and to the airport. This is our choice:
The subway or metro connects both terminals of the airport with Barcelona underground network. There are stops at T1 (inside the building) and T2 (outside the building), in both cases follow the sings. The line is called L9 sud (orange). The nearest subway station to the Institut d’Estudis Catalans is “Liceu” in Line 3 (green). One way ticket costs 4,50€. You can buy tickets inside the subway stations.
The AeroBus is another way to reach Barcelona city center with public transport. Blue buses leave from outside the terminal buildings (both T1 and T2) and take you downtown Barcelona (Plaça Catalunya). Ride time will depend on the time of the day but, traffic permitting it is about a 30-45 minutes rode. One way ticket costs 5,90 € and round trip 10,20€. You can buy the tickets inside the bus or online Click here.
The train service (RENFE Rodalies) connects terminal T2 with Barcelona. Take Line 10 of the train until the mainline station “Barcelona Sants”, which has connections with the metro network Line 3 (green), and get off at the station called “Liceu”.
By Taxi. If you arrive after hours or carrying heavy luggage, you can take a taxi. From the airport to Institut d’Estudis Catalans it may take 20-30 minutes and cost around 30€, depending on traffic.
